If you have luggage, get the vaporetto. If you are in the city for just one day, walk to the center while you enjoy getting lost in the Venezian alleys.

The ONLY warm place in St Lucia after cafes close (9ish) is the men and womans toilets at platform 1 end. Have pole gas heater in each. 1e to get in worth the price but be prepared to fight for space!

While tempting to rely on ure smartphone GPS b warned the close streets & waterways play havoc with accuracy. Best have old fashioned paper map.Venice difficult enough to navigate without added hassle

Tip: tickets from Mestre Station to other destinations in Italy are way cheaper... And Mestre is just 10min from S. Lucia station - use green colored local train (RGV), ticket 1.2€

BEFORE YOU TAKE WATER BUS, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A TICKET AND VALIDATE IT! We did not know and you are charged 60 Euro per person penalty.

If the weather on your arrival day allows, you could see the blueful (good meaning) sky, which could be not only memorable, but also comfortably-lasting in your mind.

One of the great stations with lots of cafes and shops around to grab something on the go!

Small, comparatively well-organized train station near the Rialto Bridge and a starting point to the most romantic and unusual experience of all time.

I spend a lot of time in this station. My newest tip is don’t ask characters who appear to work for trenitalia for help unless they are wearing a tag saying they are employees! Many try to get euro

The cafeteria is one of the few spots it's warm when it's cold outside. Grab a cup of Joe (but don't grab a guy named Joe) and wait for your train.

This may not sound believable but the croissant with marmalade at the Cafe&Relax in the station was one of the better pastries I've had in Italy.

Very easy for forigners to get ticket and find a train. You have to remember train number you can see during ordering. On ticket U can’t find it

I recommend this restaurant: Brek Ristorante, close to the station and is really cheap. (Sestriere Cannaregio 124, Lista Di Spagna, Venezia) on @foursquare: http://4sq.com/I3o3DZ

Caffe has a system where you pay first and then show your receipt and hope you get what you paid for. Staff cannot be bothered to even give you a moment to provide you exactly what you ordered

When travelling with a lot of luggage, there is a ramp that you can use at the front of the station. The toilets are on the furthest platform from the cafe.

The customer service help desk for treinitalia was kind and helpful. Go to them before your scheduled train for changes

Ciao Venezia! Btw, ya need to install a ramp for people with carrying and hauling luggage, which is pretty much, everybody!! The entrance is all steps!!

Booked tickets from Mestre Station (the other but far off station of Venice)! No worries, catch local train (RGV) - the green colored one from S. Lucia station. Ticket costs 1.2€

Entry point for a dramatic arrival to Venice. Ticket kiosks are easy to use and storage lockers are available on the north side of the station.
